Despite the early June heat, the RAS Horse & Rider Health Expo had great attendance with folks from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. There were horse trailers, trucks, tractors, horse clothing & equipment, horse clubs and many more here to offer their products & services.
Since horseback riders are athletes too, Teresa Tapp, well known fitness expert was here to assist the riders with improving their balance & strength. Friday evening Teresa kicked off the Expo by teaching us her workout. It was "a bit" of a challenge doing Teresa's balance exercises while standing on deep sawdust, but everyone was a good sport! All of the participants were wonderful and didn't even complain about the heat! Teresa talked on Human Nutrition following the workout with an informal question & answer session.
Saturday began at 8 am again with Teresa teaching us more of her workout moves. At least it was a bit cooler!
10 am saw the start of the Equine Seminar, which was a fantastic group of Veterinarians, Health Practitioners and a Certified Farrier and a Chiropractor for both Humans & Horses. Subjects such as Chiropractic, Massage, Equine Nutrition, Navicular, Shoeing the Navicular & Laminitis horses, Magnetics, Colic & Acupuncture were covered. The presentations were very informative and everyone learned a lot. Kids had fun getting their faces painted while parents listened to the presentations.
One of the highlights was Ed Hawkins educating us on draft horses while clinicians & participants were treated to a demonstration and buggy ride by owner, John Ingram and his Shire Draft Horses, Ted & Jet. This team has exhibited at Equitana and The Great Circus Parade just to name a few. What a treat for us! This is a tribute to those two wonderful Shires, "Ted & Jet" since they have both now passed on & are waiting for John & Lisa Ingram at the "Rainbow Bridge".
Fun was had by all who participated with lots to learn and a cookout and party that evening! If you missed it, don't miss future Clinics, Expo's or Workshops!!
Rainbow Acres would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to all who attended, participated & a special thanks to those who helped!!
